Edison Community College … Pathways to success The importance of Edison Community College is found throughout the region and the communities it serves. Following its founding in 1973, Edison became a State chartered mandate of the first community college in this region and continues to excel in all areas of academia. With more than 40 years of excellence and focused on meeting a demand for first-class, affordable higher education to the local area residents, the College reached a major milestone by adding over 10,000 graduates to the local region and beyond. Edison’s main 130-acre campus is located in Piqua, Ohio, with a satellite campus in Greenville, Ohio. Eighty percent of the college’s enrollment comes from its primary service area of Darke, Miami and Shelby counties. Positioned ideally for students from around the region, the College sits along the Interstate 75 corridor running from Toledo to Cincinnati. Located in a strong manufacturing and agricultural region, Edison boasts of the role it plays in economic development by adding more than $13.2 million annually to the local economy. What makes Edison Community College unique? It starts with our students. Our students come from all walks of life, many being first time graduates in their families. In addition to providing both a rewarding and lasting experience, we’re committed to our students’ success. This is evident in our course completion rate, which places us highest in the region and second in the state at 85%. With continually expanding workforce proficiencies, Edison has continued to develop and uphold meaningful partnerships with key regional employers to meet the needs of an ever-changing environment for the greater good of its students. Students attending Edison have the opportunity to engage in over 30 technical fields of study and baccalaureate transfer programs. As the future of education continues to evolve through advances in technology and the skilled workforce sector, Edison Community College is excited as it grows its Innovation Academy. Innovation Academy introduces students to the highly demanded science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields as early as their freshman year of high school. Providing students with distinctive pathways from high school through college, Innovation Academy will ensure students have the opportunity to be gainfully employed upon graduation. In working with local and regional manufacturers, Edison continues to develop both certificate and 2-year associate degree options in a wide variety of STEM fields.
